About Poached Pears with Star Anise and Ginger

- Medium pears 3
- Star anise (phoolchakri) 2
- Ginger, cut into thin strips 1 inch
- Lemon juice 1 tbsp
Step 1. Peel pears and rub them with some lemon juice. Halve them and remove seeds. Cut off a thin slice at the base to make it flat so that they can be placed vertically in a pan.
Step 2. Heat 1½ cups water in a non-stick pan on high heat. Add sugar, remaining lemon juice, ginger, cinnamon and star anise and cook stirring continuously till you get a syrup.

How to Make Poached Pears with Star Anise and Ginger (Stepwise Photos)
Method
- Peel pears and rub them with some lemon juice. Halve them and remove seeds. Cut off a thin slice at the base to make it flat so that they can be placed vertically in a pan.
- Heat 1½ cups water in a non-stick pan on high heat. Add sugar, remaining lemon juice, ginger, cinnamon and star anise and cook stirring continuously till you get a syrup.
- Add pears, reduce heat and cook for 10-12 minutes.
- Transfer into serving plates and serve drizzled with remaining syrup.
