    • Cooking chocolate, finely chopped 1 cup
    • Ripe bananas, sliced into roundels 3
    • Eggs 2
    • Fresh cream ¾ cup
    • Milk ½ cup
    • Melted butter 1 tbsp + to grease

How to Make Chocolate and Banana Flan (Stepwise Photos)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200º C.
  2. Heat cream and milk in a non-stick pan and heat on low heat but do not boil.
  3. Take chocolate in a bowl and pour the hot milk-cream mixture on top of chocolate and whisk well, till the chocolate melts and gets mixed with the milk and cream.
  4. Add melted butter, whisk and keep the mixture aside for 2-3 minutes or till it cools.
  5. Butter a baking dish, arrange banana slices to cover the base and the sides of the dish.
  6. Once the chocolate mixture has cooled considerably, add eggs and whisk well.
  7. Pour this mixture over the banana layer in baking dish. Tap the dish gently to remove bubbles, if any.
  8. Keep the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  9. Spoon into serving bowls and serve hot or cold.

Thank you for the amazing instructions.

I have success w/ my dosa but does not last long stored in the refrigerator.

Maybe I am fermenting for too long, or add the salt before the rise?

I also was wondering if it is important to blend separately or can it be blended all together?

Hi Chaitrali,
Yes, cut down the fermentation time and add salt only to the required portion at the time of making the dosa. Also storing in smaller containers just enough for a day helps. Once the batter in a larger container is disturbed (by stirring or scooping out a little etc), I feel it turns sour faster. You can blend them together if you want. But we do it separately because we want the dal batter to become fluffy and the rice batter slightly coarse. Fluffy dal batter makes the dosas light and coarse rice batter makes them extra crispy without making the dosas hard. Hope this helps
