One of the most popular Bengali sweets can be made in various flavours and they are all very delicious

Ingredients

  • Low fat cottage cheese (paneer) 200 gms
  • Jaggery, grated 3 tbsps
  • Low fat milk 2 tbsps
  • Fresh pomegranate pearls ½ cup
  • Fresh orange juice ½ cup
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • Cornflour ½ tbsp
  • Fresh grapes, slit and seeded 5 to 6

Methods

  • Put low fat cottage cheese, jaggery and low fat milk in a blender and blend into a granular mixture.
  • Transfer the mixture into a bowl, add pomegranate pearls and mix well. Pour the mixture onto a barfi tray lined with butter paper and spread evenly. Keep the tray in the refrigerator to set.
  • Boil orange juice and lemon juice in a non-stick pan. Add cornflour and mix well so that there are no lumps. Cook stirring continuously till the mixture becomes thick and smooth.
  • Bring the tray out of the refrigerator, cut into squares, pour the orange sauce over them and garnish with grapes. Serve.
